Githa Michiels was unbeatable at the third day of 21st Alpentour Trophy. She won after 2:59:43 with a good lead ahead of Austrian Angelika Tazreiter. Third place went to Italian Maria Nisi.

“I’m still unbeaten, but it will be tough for me tomorrow. I tried to give my best performance each day now. My aim was to gain a decent gap to my chasers, so I can sleep more relaxed before the final time trial”, explained the 36-year-old. With a lead of 20 minutes she will start into the final day. “We’ve been long together today. Githa then pulled away and I also tried to attack Angelika, but I wasn’t possible to get rid of her. I’m happy with my third place of today’s stage and the second place in the overall classification”, Nisi said.

Angelika Tazreiter

Like yesterday, Tazreiter enjoyed her podium finish. In the steep downhill from Planai to the finish line she was able to secure her second place finish: “Maria was extremely quick today. I struggled to follow her. In the last trail I was ahead of her and thought that now I had to take some risks to avoid her overtaking me again.

As yesterday Janine Schneider missed the podium. The German rider finished fourth, but is still battling for an overall classification top 3: “The stage was extreme fast. Unfortunately it wasn’t my best day. I’m extremely happy with my results, especially if you look at this year’s strong line-up.
